Robert Wellington Wofford Jr.

Robert Wellington Wofford, Jr., lovingly known as “Bobby,” passed away peacefully on February 14, 2026, at the age of 70, in Palo Alto, California, surrounded by his family.

Born on December 8, 1955, in Brownsville, Texas, Bobby was the firstborn son of Robert Wellington Wofford, Sr. and Mirtala Olguin Wofford. As the eldest of eight children, he took pride in helping lead his brothers and sisters through life’s many adventures. During his early years, while his father worked for PanAm, the family lived in Texas, New York, and Florida before settling in California, where wonderful, cherished memories were made.

In 1973, during the Vietnam War era, Bobby answered the call to serve his country. He proudly followed in his parents’ footsteps by enlisting in the United States Marine Corps, where they had also served. Becoming a Marine was more than a duty, it was a commitment to honor, courage, and country. The Marines taught him discipline and resilience, instilling a deep sense of loyalty, strength and brotherhood that remained with him throughout his life. Once a Marine, always a Marine.

After completing his military service, Bobby worked in the roofing industry. He was employed with Ruby Roofing in Beeville, Texas, and later with Meadows Roofing in Colma, California, before continuing his career independently, partnering with various roofing companies.

Bobby is a proud father of four sons, Robert III, Pete, Bobby, and David Desjardins.

Though life brought its share of hardships, they never hardened him. When it came to his family, his heart remained gentle, steadfast, and full of love. He treasured every moment spent with them, for they were the true joy and anchor of his life. Bobby found joy being outdoors, whether it was camping, fishing, standing at the grill or walking the shores of Hawaii.

Bobby was tenderly welcomed into Heaven by his beloved parents, Robert and Mirtala; his sister, Vicky; and the many family members who had gone before him. We find comfort in imagining the joyful reunion as they gathered to embrace him once more in God’s eternal kingdom, where pain is no more, tears are wiped away, and only perfect peace, radiant light, and everlasting rest remain.

He will be deeply missed and forever loved by his partner, Roxanne McGarvie Wofford; his siblings, Liz, Michael, Richard, Debbie, Jeffrey (Ricki), and Alicia (David); his sons Robert III, Pete, and Bobby (Meaghan), David (Kaycee); his brother-in-law Raul, sister-in-law Huong; his grandchildren; many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, other extended family members and friends.

Though our hearts feel the weight of loss, Bobby’s watch on earth has ended, but his legacy of strength, loyalty, faith, and love lives on. He has stood his final post and now rests in eternal peace.

Until we meet again, Marine.
