Rena Delores Brunelli Lukins
Mrs. Rena Delores Lukins (née Brunelli), age 104, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2025, in West Sacramento, California. A beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she leaves behind a legacy of devotion to family, faith, and community.
Rena was born on October 22, 1921, in Broderick, California, to Beatrice and Domenico Brunelli. She grew up in a close-knit family alongside her siblings Mary, Manuel, and Erma. A proud graduate of Woodland High School’s Class of 1940, Rena carried the values of hard work and perseverance throughout her long life.
She married Robert Lukins, July 6, 1940 and together they built a life rooted in love and commitment. Their union was blessed with five children: daughter Joyce (Pete), and sons Rodney (Cheryl), Gary (Sue), Wayne (Bridget), and Patrick. Rena cherished her role as matriarch to a growing family that includes eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. She also held a special place in her heart for her many nieces and nephews.
A devout Catholic throughout her life, Rena found strength and purpose in her faith. Her dedication extended beyond personal devotion. She volunteered countless hours at Our Lady of Grace School, where her presence was a source of warmth and encouragement to students and staff alike.
Rena was also a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of V.F.W. Post 8762. Her involvement reflected a deep respect for service members and their families, as well as a steadfast commitment to civic duty.
Her long life was marked by quiet resilience and enduring grace. Those who knew Rena will remember her unwavering spirit and the gentle strength with which she supported those around her.
Rena is preceded in death by husband Robert, her parents Domenico and Beatrice , siblings Lena, Manuel, Erma and Mary.
The viewing is scheduled for Monday, December 1st from 1:00 – 4:00 at W. F. Gormley and Sons. Rosary will be held at 10:00 am and Funeral Mass will follow immediately after the rosary at Our Lady of Grace Church, 911 Park Avenue, West Sacramento, CA 95691 on Tuesday, December 2, 2025.
