Patrice Marie O'Ran

September 3, 1956 — December 19, 2022

Our sweet Patty was born in Sacramento to her parents, Silvio and LaVerne Suine. She attended St. Mary’s Elementary School where she later coached volleyball and taught P.E. She attended St. Francis High School and then graduated from Sacramento State University with a degree in Criminal Justice.

Patty began her career in public service with the Department of Justice in 1976, moving to the Office of Criminal Justice Planning in 1983 and back to DOJ in 1994. She retired in December 2013. During her career, Patty was responsible for many programs from increasing crime awareness and personal safety to “taking a bite out of crime” with McGruff the Crime Dog and advocating for resources in support of such causes as elderly abuse, domestic violence, and  human trafficking.

Patty was Mom to two beautiful boys, Sean (Stacie Lewis) and Peter. Peter passed away in 2009 and is now reunited with his mom, both watching over their loved ones together. Patty adored her boys and was involved in all their activities. She enjoyed watching football, baseball, and basketball with them. She was an avid A’s and Kings fan. In 2012, Patty married David Alameida and gained her stepson Jared (Jessica), another athlete she loved to support at his many soccer and baseball games. Patty’s contagious kindness and compassion also attracted many deep, long-lasting friendships that stood the test of time for more than 50 years.

Closely following her love for her family and friends was her love of the sun. Her happiest places were the beaches of Santa Cruz, Lake Tahoe, and Hawaii, where she would tan while floating in the water or laying in the sand. Patty also loved music, dancing and being around children. “Auntie Patty” was always available to babysit and enjoyed supporting her multiple nieces and nephews at their school and sporting events.

Patty is survived by her husband, her parents, her son Sean, her sisters Tina Cates and Gina Haskell (John), her brother Anthony Suine and her nieces and nephews. Her family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Patty’s memory to any Alzheimer’s Disease charity or non-profit of your choice. A service will be held at St. Mary’s Church on Friday, December 30 at 10 a.m., followed by a celebration of life.
