Michele Ilene Mian

Michele Ilene Mian born in Sacramento, California in 1964 passed away peacefully on October 30, 2026 after a bravely fought battle with cancer.

Michele was a daughter, sister, auntie, and great-auntie, whose place in our family will always be special. Though her life on earth has come to an end, the memories and connections she leaves behind will remain with those who loved her.

A Sacramento native, Michele graduated from C.K. McClatchy High School in 1982 and later earned her Associate of Arts degree from Sacramento City College.

Michele spent her career working with students with disabilities at the Sacramento City Unified School District. Through this work, she was able to make a difference in the lives of children and their families.

One of Michele’s special family roles was being auntie to Katherine and Emily and great-auntie to Alexander. She loved to hear her niece Emily play the piano at home as she was a talented violinist herself and connected with people through music. Katherine and Michele enjoyed speaking about their favorite Catholic podcasters and discussing their shared faith with one another. Michele recently converted to Catholicism and her strengthened faith was a great comfort to her in the face of challenging times. These relationships were an important part of her story and she will always hold a dear place in their hearts.

Michele was the daughter of Darleen Mian and the late Ahmad Mike Mian. She is survived by her mother Darleen, her sister Melinda (Jason), her nieces Katherine (Mitchell) and Emily (Logan), her great-nephew Alexander, her long-time companion Byron, and extended family.

She will be remembered every time we have a cake from Freeport Bakery, each time we pass by the Folsom Zoo, in each play of one of her favorite songs, Fast Car by Tracy Chapman, and each time we enjoy a drink and come together at a baseball game. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

The family would like to thank Dr. Stephen Wang, the Palliative Care Team at Kaiser Permanente South Sacramento, and Marivel and her staff at Ferrari RCFE for the compassionate care she received.

In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be made in her name to Shriners Children's Hospital of Northern California.
