With hearts full of love and faith, we celebrate the life and spirit of Michael W. Wofford, Jr., age 32, who passed into God’s care on November 26. Michael’s journey on Earth was a powerful one — full of compassion, purpose, laughter, and light. He now continues that journey in the freedom of Heaven, loving and watching over us in new and beautiful ways.
A Life of Strength and Heart
Michael was my heart, my pride, and my joy. He served as an active-duty Marine with courage and conviction, giving his all in everything he did. His strength, discipline, and determination reflected the same bright energy that carried through every part of his life.
Since he was a child, Michael’s tender heart was impossible to miss. His preschool teacher once told me how he would comfort crying classmates by gently kissing their hands — a story that captured who he was from the very start: gentle, compassionate, and filled with love. That kindness only deepened as he grew. Whether it was a friend, a fellow Marine, or a stranger at a bus stop, Michael had a genuine way of seeing people and making them feel cared for.
Fearless and Full of Life
Michael embraced life fearlessly. He loved skateboarding and was incredible at it — flying through the air with pure joy on his face. It was a glimpse of his spirit: free, determined, and lifted high.
When Michael found the love of his life, LaShea, he knew his heart had found its match. Their love was real, steady, and full of peace. Seeing them together filled everyone who knew them with happiness.
Outside of his service, Michael found joy in weightlifting, good BBQs, laughter, and time spent with family and friends. He lived in every moment — present, open, and full of care for the people around him.
In his last months, he shared special time with his dad — simple, meaningful conversations and moments his father will always cherish and be grateful for.
Faith and Freedom
Michael’s faith was his foundation. He found peace in Scripture and hope in every verse he shared. We trust that same faith has now carried him home, where he’s free, restored, and surrounded by love.
Though our hearts ache, we choose to celebrate Michael’s life and the beautiful way his love continues to shine through us. He hasn’t gone far — his laughter, strength, and prayerful heart remain with us in every sunrise, every lift of hope, every quiet sign of love.
See you later, my beautiful son... Until we meet again, we’ll keep your love alive in all we do.
Survived By
His loving mother, Huong Nguyen, and his beloved wife, LaShea Wofford, who brought him peace and joy. He is also cherished by his father, Michael W. Wofford Sr., extended family, and countless friends who will forever carry his light in their hearts.
The last scripture Michael shared with me: 1 Peter 5:6-11
*Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. To him be the dominion forever and ever. Amen.
