Larry Johnson was born on December 7, 1949 to Carl and Eunice Johnson in Inglewood, CA. He passed away unexpectedly on March 14, 2026, at the age of 76, with his beloved niece at his bedside.
Larry spent most of his life in Sacramento, CA, and was a proud graduate of Highlands High School Class of 1969. A devoted Catholic, he faithfully attended Mass nearly every Sunday at St. Lawrence Parish- a church that had been part of his life since he was a young boy.
Larry dedicated 20 years of service as a civilian employee at McClellan Air Force Base, retiring with pride. In 1989, he found sobriety and remained committed to it for the rest of his life. This achievement was one of his greatest sources of pride. Larry was deeply involved in the Alcoholics Anonymous community, belonging to many groups and giving generously of his time as a sponsor and meeting chair. He was a dear and trusted friend to many, leaving a lasting impact on countless lives.
Larry truly loved life and lived it to the fullest, cherishing his independence and his connections with others. He was affectionately known as “Lucky Larry” by family and friends - a nickname he earned decades ago because he was always winning something. It was a title worn with humor and joy, and one that perfectly captured his spirit.
A beloved son, brother, cousin and great-great uncle, Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Carl & Eunice Johnson, and his sisters, Linda Thiessen and Rita Anderson. He is survived by his nieces, Jennifer Freamon, Nora Anderson, Mariah Addams, and Tiffany Allen: his nephew Todd Thiessen; along with many great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Larry will forever be missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him”.
