Josephine (Josefina) Davila passed away peacefully on February 28, 2026 at the age of 103, surrounded by the love and the comfort of her family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roberto, in 1970. She is survived by her three children: Bob, Josie Hernandez, and Mary LaCasse (Cameron); three grandchildren: Robert LaCasse (Charlotte); Marcos Hernandez (Jillena) and Renee O’Connor (Michael); and three great grandchildren: Eliora Hernandez, James O’Connor and William O’Connor. She was a dedicated, loving and beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and a loyal friend. For those of us blessed to know her and be loved by her, we know you felt her unconditional love whether you knew her at family gatherings in California or in Mexico, if you worked with her at the Blue Diamond Almond Growers, volunteered at Sacred Heart School or as a member of Manitos, a Latino senior group that meets weekly at the Hart Senior Center, socializing with her. If she knew you, she loved you. Josephine will be missed for her positive energy and the joy that she brought in all of our lives. Her Catholic faith was a daily part of her life. Josephine will always be in our hearts and prayers. We find comfort in knowing that mom’s legacy lives on through the lessons she taught us. The love she shared and the memories we will all cherish forever. We want to express a special thank you the Dignity Health Mercy Hospice nurse, Stephanie, who provided loving care and support to Josephine and our family in the final 8 weeks. A Rosary will be held March 15, 2026 at W.F. Gormley & Sons Funeral Chapel, 2015 Capitol Avenue, Sacramento at 6:00 pm. The funeral mass will take place the following morning at 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Church, 1040 J Street, Sacramento, a reception will follow to celebrate her life. The burial at the cemetery will be private only for immediate family.
