John Charles Sherinian

John Charles Sherinian, Sr., age 87, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2025, in Sacramento, California. A devoted husband, brother, father, grandfather, and respected professional, John lived a life defined by dedication-to his family, his community, and his work. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lucille Sherinian.

Born on June 15, 1938, in New York City, John spent his early years in Cliffside Park, New Jersey and his teen years in Fort Lee, New Jersey, and later moved with his family to California in 1956. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of San Francisco in 1966, laying the foundation for a long and successful career in the financial and insurance industries.

John began his professional journey with Crocker Bank and then Allstate before finding his home at the Edward Brodie Insurance Company in Sacramento, rising to Assistant Vice President of Sales and retired after more than 30 years of service. His career was marked by integrity, dedication, and thoughtful care for his clients and colleagues, leaving a lasting and positive impact.

John shared a remarkable 63-year marriage with his beloved wife, Mary Anne Tarpin Sherinian. Together they built a beautiful life and raised their family in the Land Park community in Sacramento. He is survived by his wife Mary Anne, his children Suzanne (husband Matt Guzaitis), Catherine Jamison, and John (wife Sharon) Sherinian II; and his cherished sister, Carole Jouroyan.

A proud and devoted grandfather, John found immense joy in his grandchildren: Griffin (wife Kimberly), Christian, Julia, Jack, Michael, and Gabriel. He was a constant and enthusiastic presence at games and events-on sidelines, in bleachers, and in the audience-supporting every endeavor with pride and encouragement.

John's love of sports began in his youth with baseball and continued throughout his life. Though injuries ended his playing days early, his passion for sports endured through coaching youth soccer, and his enthusiastic involvement with Jesuit High School's booster club and athletic programs. He was also a lifelong Giants & 49ers Fan, tuning in to games and celebrating their big wins.

John was a generous supporter of Holy Spirit Church and School, giving both his time and resources in service to others. John also had a lifelong love of oldies rock and roll, and The Beach Boys. His happiest moments were spent traveling with family to Sea Ranch, Italy, Hawaii, Napa Valley, and enjoying meals at his favorite San Francisco restaurant, Tadich Grill.

John's legacy is one of steadfast devotion, quiet generosity, and enduring love. His memory will continue to bring comfort and inspiration to all who knew him.

A Memorial Mass will be held on December 20, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Church, 3159 Land Park Drive, Sacramento. Family and friends are warmly invited to gather in remembrance.

The family is grateful to the loving care John was given by the staff at Mercy McMahon Terrace. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mercy McMahon Terrace in Sacramento or to a charitable causes that reflect John's spirit.
