At Clear Lake High School, Jim was a well-rounded student who not only excelled academically but also thrived athletically and artistically. Jim’s dual talents in Music and mathematics earned him acceptance into both UC Berkeley and the University of the Pacific Conservatory of Music. Choosing to follow his heart, he pursued music at UOP and graduated with a degree that would launch a lifetime career in performance. In 1967- the same year that he graduated high school Jim joined the Stockton Symphony Orchestra as a French horn player. Over the next 53 seasons, he became a cornerstone of Stockton’s musical community. His artistry enriched countless performances across ballets, operas, musical theater productions, church services, summer park concerts, and private events. His presence was felt not only through his musicianship but also through his unwavering dedication to sharing music with others. Alongside his musical endeavors, Jim served his community as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service for 31 years. His reliability and friendly demeanor made him a familiar face to many residents and their pets for many decades. Jim also served his country with distinction over nearly four decades in the Air Force Reserve Band. Attached to the 561st National Guard Band of the West Coast, he travelled extensively around the world performing for U. S. Military personnel.
