Emblem

Gerald (Gerry) Storey passed away early on a Saturday morning with his loving wife by his side. Born and raised in Battle Creek, Michigan, he had many fond memories of growing up as part of a large extended family. A 1965 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School, Gerry was involved in drama club, Demolay, and was an amateur magician. He served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War monitoring nuclear bomb testing from a base in the Philippines. He moved to Sacramento in the 1970s and graduated from Sacramento State with an MA in Art (Photography). Gerry enjoyed teaching photography for several years at Yuba College and later owned a commercial photo lab until his retirement.

Gerry was grateful to receive a lifesaving heart transplant at Stanford Hospital in 1994. A longtime resident of Curtis Park, he could often be seen riding his recumbent bike flying a pirate flag. He loved movies, the theater, and exploring the back roads of the West. Gerry also collected books and loved to read. Always an optimist, he was playful, full of life, and his passing leaves a huge hole in our hearts.

Gerry was predeceased by his parents Gerald and Georgina, and is survived by his wife of 44 years, Genevieve, brother Greg (Sonia), nephew Jason (Sarah), brother-in-law Ben (Gayle), sister-in-law Diana (Chris), and longtime friend Tom (Linda), as well as several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
