Frank Roman Skover

Frank rode off into the sunset on May 12,2025 after 100 wonderful years.

He was born in Racine, Wisconsin to parents Nick and Elsie Skover. At 14, Frank and his family drove to California to join his dad who was working at Mare Island.

Frank attended Vallejo High School where he ran track and showed his horse Dixie. This was the beginning of a future with horses for Frank. Frank graduated from Cloverdale High School. He had moved with his family to Cloverdale where they started the Live Oak Dairy. The dairy was about to expand and produce chocolate milk and ice cream when WWII broke out and Frank enlisted in the Navy.

Frank was a man who enjoyed life and his work. He was a man not to sit idle. Frank hauled lumber in his Kenworth truck, following his time in the Navy, until an accident unloading the lumber broke his leg and changed his life.

Frank met nurse Betty Lueck and told his dad she was the girl for him. After weeks of recovery Frank asked Betty if she would go dancing with him at the Claremont when his leg had healed. The date resulted in marriage and five children.

Frank worked in sales at International Harvester in Sacramento before he began his lifelong career in real estate, land development and construction. Frank built custom homes and developed subdivisions in the Greenhaven Pocket area along with Davis and Fair Oaks.

Frank's interest in horses led him and his children to participate in horse shows. He and Betty purchased acreage and developed a horse ranch and rice farm in Pleasant Grove. Frank and his family showed horses all throughout California and with his cutting horses came shows in Texas.

Frank married Patricia Simpson in 1995 and they celebrated his 80th and 90th birthdays with big parties planned by Pat and loved by Frank. They were able to enjoy travels to Alaska, the east coast and to the Caribbean.

Frank was an unforgettable, charming, optimistic, tenacious man who will forever be loved and missed by his wife Pat, his children Betsy, Laurie, Frank, Brad, and Debbie, their spouses, 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, his brother Bob, and many friends.

Frank has joined his loving wife, Betty, his parents, his brother Roy and sister Eleanor in heaven.
