Fay Elizabeth (Flathau) Brannan (Age 90) of Carmichael, CA, passed away January 29, 2026, after a brief struggle with pneumonia.
Fay was born April 5, 1935, in Zilwaukee, Michigan. She moved to Detroit after high school where she worked as a ticket agent for Capital Airlines and got the opportunity to travel a bit before marrying the love of her life Arthur Dale Brannan in 1956. She was proud of her 47-year marriage and was devastated by his passing in 2003. They had three sons: Art (Karen) of Dunwoody, GA, Doug (Li) of Cypress, CA, and Derick (Lynette) of Carmichael, CA.
Art’s long career with Motorola, Inc., provided Fay the opportunity to live in five different states, with the couple eventually settling in Folsom, CA in 1985. She loved to travel, whether it was a weekend in San Francisco, whale watching in Hawaii or going to exotic places like Costa Rica or Israel. Fay was a longtime Sacramento Kings season ticket holder and a passionate fan to the very end. She loved her Labrador Polly, enjoyed gardening, and loved her collection of Petoskey stones which could only be found in her home state of Michigan. She also had great affection for the “classical crossover” music of Andre Rieu.
Fay is survived by her brother Bob Flathau (Patricia) of Birch Run, MI, her three sons, seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind many friends - from her old high school bestie Sharleen (Larry) Wise to the many new friends she met while at Eskaton Carmichael. We will all miss her so much!
A Funeral Mass will be held March 14th at 10am at Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish Sacramento (Rosary immediately before Mass) and reception following. Details for the reception will be given at Mass. Burial will be private.
Remembrances can be made to Wounded Warriors Project or Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
