Everett Louis Cozort, 70 years old, resided in Sacramento, California. Passed away on December 4, 2023 surrounded by loving family members he died of recently diagnosed aggressive Liver Cancer.
Born November 16, 1953 in Chester, California to John and Rose Cozort, Loving father of Jonathan Cozort, step father to Ron Ellis. Survived by his sons Jonathan Cozort, stepson Ron Ellis and granddaughter Sadie Ellis of Kansas, including his friend and former wife, Ora Ruppel of El Dorado Hills, CA. his sister Colette Cozort of Chester, CA, and brother Chuck Cozort of Sacramento, CA. Predeceased by son Nathan Bauer of Sacramento and parents John and Rose Cozort of Chester, CA.
Everett celebrated 40 years of recovery, he volunteered his time to always helping others and was well loved by many in the recovery community. He enjoyed music and could tell you the artists’ names by just hearing a song. Jamming on his guitar with friends was an enjoyable pastime. He was disappointed his trip to Ireland to bike with friends was sidelined due to the immobility caused by his strokes. In Chester Everett was a member of the Ski Patrol, and loved skiing, he had his son on the slopes by the age of 5. He was a member of the Northern California Carpenters Union for over 50 years. His career involved many projects in the high rises of San Francisco. From that experience he started his own construction company “Cozort Construction” and completed numerous projects in the local area.
After multiple strokes took away some of his left side mobility, he still had a positive outlook and was determined to stick with the physical therapy to regain his mobility. His strength, Love, and humor have affected all whose lives he touched.
Thank you to the numerous friends who were able to entertain him with stories and shared their gratitude for the way he touched their lives and helped to care for him during his final days. Gratitude also to the staff of Snowline Hospice in Diamond Springs for the 5 days of support and care they gave Everett and the family so we could care for him and allow a peaceful passing at home.
While he may no longer be with us, his legacy of kindness and wit will live on forever in our hearts.
