Dolores Margaret Hastings

Dolores Margaret Hastings, known lovingly to so many as "Dee," passed away on July 15,

2026, at the age of 92, in Orangevale, California. Born on May 12, 1934, in Sacramento, Dolores lived a life full of laughter, adventure, and deep connections with the people she loved most.

In 1957, Dolores married the love of her life, Richard Hastings, and together they built a family and a lifetime of memories full of adventure, laughter and love. Whether they were camping in their motorhome, exploring the open road, or embarking on family trips to Europe, Dolores was always up for an adventure. She had a spirit that was impossible to contain, an outgoing personality that drew people in. She had a quick wit that kept everyone on their toes and she was always ready with a comeback.

Dolores was a woman of many passions. Whether she was watching Jaws for the 100th time, in whatever language it happen to be playing, or cheering on her beloved San Francisco Giants, Dolores threw herself fully in to the things she loved. She enjoyed dancing to big band music at Memorial Auditorium in her younger days. She never turned down a good latte from Starbucks. Her heart was big enough to hold a special place for dogs and elephants alike.

Beyond her family and friends, Dolores gave generously of her time to her community. She volunteered at Methodist Hospital, served on the McClatchy reunion committee, and was an active member of the St. Charles Borromeo church women's group.

Dolores was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Boyd and grandson Dylan. She is survived by her son Jerry Hastings, her daughter Cindy Hastings-Inclan, her favorite son-in-law Steve Inclan and her son Mike Hastings, as well as granddaughter Jessica Hastings-Stephens, all of whom were blessed to have her in their lives.

A private gravesite service will be held for the family. A Celebration of Life will be held on

July 29th at 1:00 p.m. All who knew Dolores are welcome to join in honoring her memory. Please contact a family member for location and details. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sheldrick Wildlife Trust or Homeward Bound Golden Retriever Rescue.
