He was truly an extraordinary human - kind, generous, funny, smart, are just some of the words we have for who he was. His wicked sense of humor can be described as 'dad joke meets outlaw cowboy pirate.' He loved family, the outdoors, animals, music, crossword puzzles, card games (especially poker), Western films, cigars, good whiskey, and good food. He had a successful career as a District Attorney in Sacramento County, where he was deeply respected. His love for nature took him all over the United States to many State and National Parks. He was a consummate outdoorsman, fly-fisherman, and hunter. Dave is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marty; his daughters Elena and Juliana; Granddaughters Nia, Ava, and Maya; Brother Mark and nieces Bridgette and Sara; Uncle Don and Aunt Theresa, and Cousins Christy and LeeAnn.
Dave's private celebration of life will take place at the historic Wakamatsu Farm in Placerville, CA. There will be music (live and recorded), food, beverages, a poker table, and time for remembrance.
In lieu of flowers, Dave's family requests donations be made in his honor to American River Conservancy, https://www.arconservancy.org/.
