Christina Maria Schott

Christina Maria “Nana” Schott, born October 14,1949, to Lauro Valencia and Adelaida “Yaya” Valencia peacefully passed away on October 2, 2023. She now rejoins the love of her life, Phillip H. “Papa” Schott. She is survived by her siblings Olga, Hector, Charles, and Linda, and preceded in death by her twin sister, Esther; her children Jimmy, Shayne, Jan, and Sue, and preceded in death by Tim; her grandchildren Alexandra, Breana, Kearsten, Tim, Mercedes, Linea, Jesse, Trevor, Jordan, James, and Maya; and her great grandchildren Haylo, Jesstin, Kresstin, Hayven, Alicia, Victor, Jack, and Kana’i. Christina was well known and loved throughout the State Capitol during her years of employment for Dave Elder and then E. F. Hutton. Christina loved golfing with friends at El Macero Country Club; completing her daily crosswords and sudoku puzzles in the morning’s newspaper; watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune; traveling around the world; listening to Willie Nelson; playing dominoes, scrabble, and gin rummy; and throwing extravagant Christmas parties.  Christina spent many nights on the couch with her granddaughter-in-law, Hannah Wong, watching her favorite tearjerker movies –– Steel Magnolias, Bridges of Madison County, Lady Hawke, Dances with Wolves, Rocky, Message in a Bottle, On Golden Pond, The Edge, and Best Friends — while smoking Benson & Hedges cigarettes and drinking Seagrams.  All who knew and loved Christina are invited to attend services to honor her life:  Monday October 9 at 7:00pm: Viewing at W.F.Gormley & Sons Funeral Chapel at 2015 Capitol Avenue. Tuesday October 10 at 10:00am: Funeral services at St. Francis of Assisi Church at 1112 26th Street. Reception immediately following.
