Chou Nutter, lovingly known as Akie, 97, of Sacramento, California, passed away peacefully at home on June 12, 2026. She was born January 12, 1929, in Tainan, Taiwan.
Raised in Taiwan, Chou began working at age 9, picking flowers to help support her family. Throughout her life, she sewed clothing, worked in a soy sauce factory, and took on many jobs to care for those she loved. She met her husband and soulmate, Roger Nutter, in Taiwan while he was serving in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. They married in 1964 and shared 42 years together before his passing in 2007. She enjoyed Taiwanese soap operas, gardening, cooking, and welcoming guests with food—always making sure no one left empty-handed. Above all, she loved spoiling her grandchildren.
Chou is survived by her children, Cathy, Jason; Su Chuan Chung, and Su Yung Tsai, both of Taiwan; her grandchildren, Brandon, Tyler, Josh, Stanley, and Nancy; and many great-grandchildren and relatives in Taiwan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Nutter.
Chou will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her. Her kindness and presence touched many lives and made them brighter.
