Adrienne Powell Ramirez, 79, passed peacefully after a five-year battle with cancer.
Adrienne was born in Santa Clara, California to Alan and Lois Powell. She grew up with her sisters, Karen and Marcy, and attended school in Santa Clara.
Adrienne moved to Sacramento with her dad in 1964. She attended Sacramento City College where she obtained a degree in dental hygiene and worked in dental offices for the next 50 years, making lifelong friends with many coworkers and patients. She delighted all those who were fortunate enough to sit in her chair with her warm and engaging demeanor.
In 1979 while working part time at The Fish Emporium on J Street, she met and later married Tim Ramirez. In 1986 they welcomed their son, Timothy, to the family. Tim and Timothy were and forever will be the love of her life.
Adrienne was actively involved in many aspects of her local community. She volunteered countless hours in Timothy’s classroom at Holy Spirit School and was the inaugural chairperson of the school’s fundraising auction in 1995. She sang in the church choir for 25 years and made many lifelong friends at the school and church. She always enjoyed social outings with family and friends especially her book group and her long time Bunco group.
Adrienne will always be remembered fondly for her wit and ability to bring humor to any situation, even during her final days. She was an unfiltered source of joy for every friend, neighbor, or family member who was lucky enough to know her.
Adrienne is survived by her husband Tim, her son Timothy, her daughter-in-law Jordan and her beloved grandchildren Eleanor (9) and Jude (5). She is also survived by her sister Karen (Kerry) and her nephews Gary and Bryan (Jason). She is survived by many extended family members including nieces and nephews all of whom she loved dearly.
A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, April 30th at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Church with a reception immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Adrienne’s memory can be made to the UC Davis Cancer Center. https://give.ucdavis.edu/CCAD.
